MID & EAST DEVON
Whether a tree has to come down for safety, for space, or because it's reached the end of its life — taken down carefully, cleared away, and the ground left tidy.
Where there's room to drop it in one go, that's what we do — it's fastest, cheapest and easiest on the ground around it. Where a house, fence, shed or overhead line is in the way, the tree comes down in sections, each piece lowered under control on ropes so nothing lands where it shouldn't.
We check what's protected before we start, bring the machine the access needs, and every bit of wood and brushwood is chipped, loaded and taken away. If you'd like the stump gone too, we can grind it on the same visit or come back for it later.
Is the tree protected, or does it stand in a conservation area? Read our guide to protected trees.
Sometimes. If the tree is covered by a Tree Preservation Order, or stands in a conservation area, the council has to give consent first. We check this for you before quoting and can handle the application — our guide to protected trees explains how it works.
Yes. Where there's no room to fell it clear, we dismantle it in sections and lower each piece on ropes so nothing touches the building, fence or patio. That takes longer than straight felling, which is why it's quoted tree by tree.
Yes — logs and brushwood are chipped on site and loaded out, and the ground is left clear. If you'd like to keep logs for burning or chip for mulch, just say so and we'll leave it in a pile on site.
We can. Stump grinding is usually done at the same visit, ground down below the surrounding turf so the area can be levelled and re-turfed. Leaving the stump is fine too if you'd rather deal with it later.
It depends on the size and species of the tree, how much room there is to work, and whether the stump needs grinding. Quotes are free and given after we've seen the tree or a photo of it — there's no obligation.
We cover Mid & East Devon, including these towns and the villages around them.
