Storm-damaged tree with a fallen limb in Devon

URGENT & OUT OF HOURS

Emergency Tree Work & Storm Damage

A tree down, hanging loose, or leaning where it shouldn't — call Tom direct and we'll get there, make it safe, and get the site usable again.

Call Tom direct

Storms, saturated ground and a heavy crown all fail trees quickly. If one has come down across a drive, a fence, a roof or a path — or a big limb is hanging and won't stay up — ring or WhatsApp a photo and we'll tell you honestly how urgent it is and when we can be with you. Where there's a danger to people or property, it goes to the front of the queue.

The first visit is about making the site safe: loose and hanging wood taken down, blocked access cleared, the tree either felled or made stable, and the area left safe to walk and drive around. The fuller job — full removal, stump grinding, replanting — can follow once things have settled.

Is the tree protected, or does it stand in a conservation area? Read our guide to protected trees.

Emergency work we do

  • Fallen trees and large limbs cleared and made safe
  • Hanging, split and hinged limbs taken down
  • Leaning and unstable trees stabilised or removed
  • Blocked drives, gates, paths and tracks cleared
  • Trees taken clear of roofs, windows, fences and vehicles
  • Temporary lopping and propping where a felling has to wait
  • Photos and a written note for your insurer
  • Full removal and stump grinding once the site is safe

Emergency tree work questions

How quickly can you get to me?

Call or WhatsApp with the location and a photo and we'll tell you honestly when we can be there. Urgent safety work takes priority, and out of hours you're calling Tom's mobile, not a call centre.

What does emergency work cost?

The first visit is priced on what's needed to make the site safe — usually half a day or a day depending on the tree. If the full removal has to wait, we quote that separately so you can see both costs before committing to anything.

Will you deal with my insurance company?

We can supply photos, a written description of the damage and an invoice in the form insurers usually want, so you're not left chasing the paperwork. Send us the claim number and we'll work to it.

A tree has fallen on my fence — what should I do first?

Keep everyone away from the tree and anything it's resting against, and don't move it unless it's unsafe where it is. Take photos before anything is moved, then call us and we'll agree what comes off and in what order.

Can you come out at weekends or overnight?

Ring and we'll tell you straight. Some things can wait until the morning and some can't — you'll get an honest answer either way, and if we can't get there we'll tell you who can.
